What do we mean by “give cancer the boot”?
We all have family members and friends who have had to face cancer. This disease affects us all. But you can do something about it. Join your community to raise funds and help end cancer — give it “the boot”!
MD Anderson continues to lead the nation in patient enrollment in clinical trials of new cancer therapies. MD Anderson is the nation’s top cancer hospital — earning the No. 1 ranking nine of the past 10 years (U.S. News and World Report).
MD Anderson doctors learn more every day about preventing cancer and taking better care of patients. But they need your help to keep moving forward.
Philanthropic gifts are essential to MD Anderson’s mission. In fact, only about 4% of MD Anderson’s funding comes from the state.
Where the money goes
100% of the funds raised go directly to support MD Anderson’s mission to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation and the world. Discoveries at MD Anderson lead to new treatment standards everywhere, helping everyone who is touched by cancer.
Boot Walk participants raised more than $980,000 in 2016 to support critical research and patient care programs at MD Anderson. Including the nation’s largest clinical research program, with 7,559 patients enrolled in over 1,200 clinical trials; 13 Moon Shots™, an initiative which is accelerating the pace of converting scientific discoveries into clinical advances that reduces cancer deaths. 1 in 3 approved cancer drugs were tested in trials at MD Anderson.
To show our gratitude and demonstrate the impact of our top fundraisers, some teams and individuals can choose where to direct their funds.
MD Anderson is the place for ending cancer. Thank you for joining us to give cancer the boot.
