Cancer doesn't care the pair of boots you wear. It affects everyone. We want to end cancer, and you can help.
The Stomp Out Stage IV Breast Cancer team is raising money to be specifically directed towards the Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC) program at MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). In 2016, we were able to raise over $100,000 for the ABC program and those funds are already being deployed to improve and enhance the lives and care of metastatic breast cancer patients at MDACC! Wouldn't it be amazing if in 2017 we could blow the roof off of our 2016 fundraising efforts!?! Can you imagine taking a few more steps towards finding a cure for metastic breast cancer?
Approximately 30% of early stage breast cancer patients will go on to develop metastatic (also known as, stage IV or advanced) breast cancer for which there is no cure. The median survival rate after a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis is 3 years. Despite these statistics, there is no standard of care for metastatic breast cancer patients, no clinical trial data bank to allow patients and physicians to know what trials are available and where, and funding for research specifically focused on metastatic breast cancer is limited. We want the Advanced Breast Cancer program at MDACC to become a world-wide “practice game changer” for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. Through this program we hope to:
Of course, this all comes with a price tag; unfortunately, not a small one! We plan to raise at least $100,000 for the program through the Boot Walk to End Cancer.
Discoveries at MD Anderson lead to new treatment standards everywhere, giving all those touched by cancer the best chance for survival. In fact, one in three approved cancer drugs were tested in trials at MD Anderson. MD Anderson is the place for ending cancer.
